THE CASE OF CHARACTERISTIC STYLE OF LATE 18TH CENTURY WELSH PROVINCIAL CLOCKS OF THE REGION, HOWEVER THE CASE IS CONSTRUCTED NOT FROM OAK BUT ENTIRELY FROM A SINGLE SOURCE OF SOLID TIMBER EXHIBITING CHARACTERISTICS SIMILAR TO THAT OF BULLET WOOD OR ROSEWOOD EXPORTED FROM THE COLONIES, OR EVEN THE MADAGASGAN TIMBER BOIS DE ROSE .

A GOOD QUALITY OAK & MAHOGANY longcase clock with moon phase- swan neck pediment above raised applies decoration, reeded columns either side of shaped mouldied door, the silvered engraved dial bearing charming depictions of the four seasons at the spandrel corners, Roman numerals with well engraved centre date and second aperture,lovely original painted moon with landscape scenes.signed above the arch 'Thomas Barrow, Stockport' listed working 1784.
long door with inset shaped mahogany crossbanded, reeded quarter columns either side, cantered base crossbanded stood on bracket feet.
